Clifford L. Martin, age 93, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, June 22, 2019. He was born at his family home in Battle Creek on May 1, 1926, the loving son of John and Clara (Hendrixson) Martin. Clifford faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Navy during WWII. He retired from the Kellogg Company in 1988 after more than 27 years of service, and then returned as a consultant for an additional 5 years.
Clifford married the "Love of His Life", Harriet L. Reick in Battle Creek on October 6, 1946; She sadly preceded him in death on March 16, 2018. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Phil) Madarasz of Avon Park, FL, Linda (John) Gaskill of Indianapolis, IN, and Gay Anne Martin of Battle Creek; seven grandchildren, Chad Crane, Ryan Crane, Leigh (Scott) LaForest, Steve (Jenny) Madarasz, Jason Wood, Brittney (Jasen) Grant, and Tara Wood; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Maurice (Dianna) Martin of Ceresco; and several cousins, nieces & nephews. Clifford was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Donna Scott; and two brothers, Wesley & Charles Martin.
Clifford was a member of the American Legion Post #54, the Kellogg 25-year Club and the Elks Lodge #131, Battle Creek. An avid Detroit Tigers fan, he also enjoyed going to the Casino to play Keno, reading, working crossword puzzles, hunting, fishing, and watching "The Price is Right".
A memorial service to celebrate Clifford's life will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
