Colleen Joan (Morgan) Blashfield of Pompano Beach, FL, formerly of Battle Creek
Colleen, age 86, entered the next phase of life, Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Broward Health Medical Center, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was born July 14, 1929 in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan and adopted as a baby by Harold and Mabel (Lybarger) Morgan.
Colleen attended the Battle Creek Public Schools. Colleen was united in marriage to Donald Edward Blashfield on March 22, 1947 and while there were no children from this union she was a nurturing, giving, loving person to all. She and Don sponsored a girl from Guatemala and traveled there to visit her and her family. They lived in Battle Creek, Michigan until their move to Florida. Colleen retired from the Kellogg Company in 1985 after 35 years of service. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed her volunteer work and her associates at the Broward Medical Center. She loved music, played the organ and sang with the church choir as well as the Sweet Adelines for a time. She loved all animals and especially her cats.
Surviving is her cousin, Carlene DeMaso of Springfield, Michigan, with whom she stayed in close touch over the years. Also close to her heart were Carlene's husband Alfred, and their children Brad DeMaso, El Dorado Hills, California, Carla DeMaso-Johnson, Issaquah, Washington, Paula Bule, American Fork, Utah, and Gregg DeMaso, Nashville, Tennessee, her special friend Annie Siggins and other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald in 1998, mother and step-father Casey Neaman Jones, and her father and step-mother Margarethe Nickel Morgan.
A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, October 24th in the Kraeer Funeral Home of Pompano Beach, FL. Colleen has been entombed at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, Battle Creek. There will be no visitation or service in Battle Creek and Colleen's arrangements were handled by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral & Cremation Care of Battle Creek.
