Colleen P. (Powers) Koestner of Portage, MI
Colleen, age 85, died Monday afternoon, October 31, 2016 at her residence with her loving family by her side.
Colleen, the daughter of Harry J. and Gay B. (Conroy) Powers, was born in Kalamazoo, MI on October 1, 1931. She faithfully served her church and community for many years. Colleen was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, Ministry with Community, the Arimathean ministry of the Catholic Church and always shared her faith with those she encountered.
Colleen was united in marriage to James W. Koestner at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kalamazoo, MI in 1952; he preceded her in death in 2007. Surviving are her four children Laura (Larry) Huggett, John (Amy) Koestner, Elizabeth (Randy) Walbridge and Nancy (Brian) Wells and seven grandchildren, Ashley and Charley Huggett, Lauren (Ethan Milner) Walbridge, Kyle Koestner, Evan (Chelsea) Walbridge, John and Grace Wells. Colleen was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Richard Powers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 4th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta 49012 with Father John D. Fleckenstein and Father Christopher J. Derda, Con-Celebrating and Deacon Michael A. Carl, Assisting. Family and friends will continue Colleen's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon immediately following the Mass in the Church Social Hall. Interment will be in East Hickory Corners, Barry Township. Colleen's family will greet friends on Thursday, today from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in St. Ann Catholic Church Social Hall and where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Church. Memorial contributions in Colleen's honor may be directed to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in care of St. Ann Catholic Church or the Ministry with Community, 500 N. Edwards Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel (269-629-6022) is assisting Colleen's family with her arrangements.
