Colt J. Dykstra, 38, of Richland, died Friday, May 5, 2023. Colt was born November 28, 1984, the son of Harry and Sandra (Bakker) Dykstra. He was born and grew up in Holland and graduated from West Ottawa High School (Class of 2003). Colt spent more than 20 years as a brewer at several breweries across Michigan and North Carolina. His passion for brewing earned him numerous awards. Colt enjoyed working on cars with his dad, cooking for his family and friends, and traveling. He always shared fond memories of camping and traveling the country with his family during his childhood.
Colt married his high school sweetheart, Heather Nelis on July 23, 2011. Together, they have two young children, Willamena and Arden, whom he loved dearly. Colt is also survived by his mother, Sandra Dykstra; his sister, Beth (Steve) Lambert; his in-laws, Jean and Fred Nelis; sisters-in-laws Kelly (Ryan) Nicholas, Lindsey (Sergio) Rocafort, and Jami (Derrick) Taylor; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Dykstra.
A memorial visitation will be Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel. Also, a celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at One Well Brewery in Kalamazoo.
