Conrad A. Semmelroth

Conrad A. Semmelroth 91, of Battle Creek died Tuesday November 15, 2022. He was born April 2, 1931 in Coldwater, MI to Albert and Dena (Brandt) Semmelroth. Conrad grew up in Coldwater and was a 1949 graduate of Coldwater High School. In 1954 he earned his BA in Education from the University of Michigan. Conrad served with the U.S. Army Infantry as a First Lieutenant during the Korean War. Conrad was an elementary school principal in Quincy, MI 1958-60. In July of 1960 Conrad entered the Life & Health Insurance Field as an agent in Quincy. In 1964 he came to Battle Creek as an Agency Supervisor for Washington National Life. Conrad was promoted to a General Agent and went to Rockford, IL. He returned to Battle Creek in 1976 and opened and operated the Semmelroth Agency until retiring in 2008.

Conrad was formerly married to Ann Adair Semmelroth. He married Joan Kaiser Levenfeld on October 7, 1978. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan on December 12, 2011. Surviving are his significant other, friend and companion Billie Smith; daughter, Ruth Holmes of Rockford, IL; three sons, C. Anderson (Michele) Semmelroth of Columbus, OH; Chris (Kim) Semmelroth of Rockford, IL; James (LaNae) Semmelroth of Rockford, IL; Stepson, Andrew (Wendy) Levenfeld of Chesterton, IN; 11 grandchildren, Gregory (Lea) Levenfeld, Mari Jae (Christopher) Benning, Ryan Semmelroth, Katie Semmelroth, Hope (Sean) Sutherland, Stephen (Anna) Semmelroth, Meagan (Zachary Wolf) Semmelroth, Aaron Semmelroth, Olivia Semmelroth and Emily Semmelroth; a granddaughter-in-law, Julia Holmes; nine great-grandchildren, Aidan Levenfeld, Kai Levenfeld, Tyr Benning, Neava Benning, Oriana Sutherland, Gabriel Sutherland, Zoe Holmes, Coraline Semmelroth, Sebastian Semmelroth; and a brother, Dr. Carl (Sara) Semmelroth of Kalamazoo, MI. Conrad was also preceded in death by his stepson, Floyd Levenfeld; sister, Ruth Gay; brother-in-law, Kenneth Gay; nephew Larry Kaiser; grandson, Donnie Holmes.

Conrad was a member of Temple Beth El. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Riverside Country Club. He was a member and past president of the Lakeview Business Association; member of the National Association of Life Underwriters, member of Battle Creek Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association and a member of General George Custer American Legion Post #54. Conrad enjoyed studying history and geography; and traveling to Israel and Europe. He especially loved spending time with his extended family.

A traditional Jewish Funeral Service will be officiated by Cantorial Soloist, Hilary Duberstein 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, 105 Capitol Avenue N.E. Military Honors will be presented by the U.S. Army Honor Guard at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2435 Territorial Road, where a committal service will follow.
