Dale Lee Van Luven of Parchment, MI
Dale, age 69, died Saturday morning, February 2, 2019 at Medilodge of Marshall, MI following a courageous battle with Agent Orange-related cancer.
Dale, the son of Milo and Donna (Spitler) Van Luven, was born in Owosso, MI on June 20, 1949. He served his Country honorably and nobly as a SP5 in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was highly decorated during his service. Dale retired from General Motors of Flint after many years of faithful service in the Payroll Department. He was a "Harley Man," through and through, having had many and the necessary memorabilia that accompanied his passion. He also enjoyed building bird houses and watching them as his projects were being used. Dale was always helping his fellow Vets and making sure they received the benefits that were due to them.
Dale is survived by his wife of severalyears, the former Donna E. Tanner; his daughter, Amanda (Tony) Ward of Davison, MI; many grandchildren; two great grandchildren and his sister, Patricia (Tiny) Levetski of Owosso. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dale L. Van Luven, II, just two weeks ago and by three brothers.
The Graveside Service to celebrate Dale's life will be held on Tuesday, February 12th at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with the United States Army Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard bestowing full military honors. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel (269-629-6022) is assisting Dale's family.
