Dan Arthur Belcher, age 61, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, April 5, 2023 at the Rose Arbor Place, Kalamazoo with his children and siblings by his side. He was born in Battle Creek on February 15, 1962, the son of Floyd L. and Sandra L. (Bouchard) Belcher II., and faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army. Dan was stationed at Fort Bragg with the 82nd Airborne Division and graduated from basic training and Airborne school and later assigned to the 313th Military Intelligence Battalion. Even after leaving the military, Dan took great pride in his service with the U.S. Army, hanging his poster size Army picture up every memorial weekend on the front porch for the whole neighborhood to see.
Dan had a passion for cooking and was good at it. His famous recipe "homemade chicken and noodles" was an all-time favorite. Dan, his daughter and granddaughters, made a day of making noodles, and a mess in the kitchen. A grateful memory that will be cherished.
Dan is survived by his former wife, Karen L. Belcher of Battle Creek; his children and step-children, Traci Landers, Stephanie Darling, Danielle Belcher, Floyd Belcher IV., and Dan A. Dickerson; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Floyd Belcher III.; three sisters, Connie Watson, Delberta Belt, and Christine Belcher Shive; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bonnie Stranahan; and his longtime girlfriend, Kimberly Darling.
Dan was always who you could call, and depend on, no matter what it was. Helping others was something he also took pride in. He made a friend where ever he went, and was always the life of the party. A very kind soul that will be dearly missed.
