Daniel Michael Hanson, age 58, died on Wednesday May 10, 2017 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Daniel was born in Midwest City, Oklahoma and was raised in California, attending Camarillo High School and participating in Boy Scouts of America, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served as a jet mechanic. It was there he met his wife of 31 years, Theresa (Carbine) Hanson. After being in the Air Force, Dan owned a convenience store in Hickory Corners and volunteered his time as a Reserve Police Officer with Barry Township Police Department. Following the store, he enjoyed a 22-year career as a Team Leader with Hi-Lex Corporation. In his time off, Daniel enjoyed watching movies, football, and baseball, avidly following the Detroit Lions and Tigers. Daniel also enjoyed the outdoors and spent much of his free time grilling, boating, hunting, and target shooting. He was dedicated to his family and was always happiest while spending time with them.
Daniel is survived by his wife Theresa; daughters Tabitha and Katherine (Matthew); son Matthew (Lauren) and grandchildren Domonic, Logan, Aryanna, Jack, and Mary. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Sylvia Hanson, and siblings Doug and Catherine Hanson.
The visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm and 5:00-7:00pm on Tuesday May 16, 2017 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the funeral home with a graveside service directly following at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Fort Custer National Cemetery Honor Guard, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, MI 49012.
