Daniel Joba

Daniel Joba, age 90, of Battle Creek went to be with his Lord & Savior on Tuesday morning, March 19, 2013. He was born in Battle Creek on May 27, 1922 the son of Louis and Mary (Tenensky) Dzioba. Daniel served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps., received his Bachelors of Engineering from Michigan State College and retired from Post Cereals after more than 30 years of dedicated service.

Daniel married Marjorie N. "Margie" Hughes in Battle Creek in August of 1947; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Judith A. "Judi" Joba of South Dakota and Daniel (Catherine) Joba of Lake Odessa; 3 grandchildren, Tim (Erika) Stoeckley, Jennifer (Brian) Cronin and Christina (Steve) Merritt; several great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Stoeckley and a brother, Edwin Joba. Daniel was preceded in death by a son, James Stoeckley; a brother, William Joba and a sister, Julia Dzioba.

Daniel was a founding member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and was active with the Stephen Ministry. He was also a member of the Battle Creek Ski Club and the Post 25 Year Club. Daniel enjoyed golfing, skiing, swimming, travelling and truly loved spending time with his family.

A memorial service to celebrate Daniel's life will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church 157 Chapel Hill Drive, Battle Creek with a visitation one hour prior to services. Interment with full military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
