Daniel Joseph Kelly, age 59, of Battle Creek died Tuesday morning, June 9, 2015 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan on November 28, 1955, the loving son of Michael and Ruth (Brant) Kelly. Daniel faithfully served his country as Sgt. in the United States Army from 1977 to 1988, receiving the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal w/ 3rd Award, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, M60 Machine Gun Marksmanship Badge, and Army Lapel Button.

Daniel is survived by his children, Ryan (Michelle) Kelly of Texas, Billy Kelly of North Carolina, Sabrina Reybuck of Baroda, Michigan and John Kelly of California; 6 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Michael Kelly of Decatur, Michigan, Frank (Cookie) Kelly of Iowa, and several nieces & nephews. He was sadly preceded in death by his parents.

A loving & giving man, Daniel enjoyed his time in maintenance at the VA Hospital in Battle Creek. He loved volunteering & helping his fellow veterans, working on crafts, and feeding the squirrels every morning. Daniel truly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Funeral services with full military honors to celebrate Daniel's life will be held 11:30 a.m., Monday, June 15th at the Fort Custer National Cemetery with Rev. Aaron Jager, officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the family c/o Sabrina Reybuck or to the Veterans Helping Veterans, 274 Richfield Ave. Springfield, MI 49037.
