Darrell Wayne Maisner, age 59, of Battle Creek died unexpectedly on Monday morning, April 17, 2017. He was born in Marshall, Michigan on March 16, 1958, the son of George K. and Helen L. (Hankinson) Maisner, and graduated from Harper Creek High School with the Class of 1976. Darrell served in various capacities at U.S. Lumber Co. in Battle Creek for more than 37 years.
Darrell married the "Love of His Life" and best friend whom he adored, Therese H. "Teri" Maisner in Battle Creek on March 1, 2008; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Jess Barker, Josh (Tiffani) Barker, Jake (Andrea) Barker, Jaime (Larry) Burrett, and Matthew (Melinda) Maisner, all of Battle Creek; his grandchildren, Zach, Riley, Stephen, Addison, Liam, Natalea, Evan, Cameron, and Mallory; a special brother & sister, Kenneth (Sandra) Maisner of Tekonsha, Kathy (Bill) Smith of Ceresco; three sisters, Betty, Louise, and Sharon; mother-in-law, Joan Lawrence; brother-in-laws, Tom (Tammi), Tim (Betsy), Ted (Lisa), and Tony Lawrence; a host of nieces & nephews, and many close friends. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Ed Lawrence.
A true family man, Darrell was an amazing husband, dad, papa and brother. He was a longtime member of the Fredonia Grange, and volunteered with the Battle Creek Field of Flight balloon festival for more than 20 years. Darrell enjoyed all types of cars, hotrods, muscle cars, sports cars and racecars.
The family will receive friends 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 20th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where funeral services to celebrate Darrell's life will be held 3:30 p.m., Friday, April 21st.
