David Mario Haley

David Mario Haley, 66, of Battle Creek, died at Bronson Methodist Hospital with his family at his side on Monday, October 24, 2022.

David was born on January 12, 1956 in Detroit to John "Jack" Haley and Celestine Martena (Gambaro) Haley. Growing up in an Italian household in Downriver Detroit on the island of Grosse Ile, David enjoyed the values of faith, family and food. As a high school student, David played football and was in the high school Marching Band. After graduating from Grosse Ile High School in 1974, David moved to Battle Creek and attended Western Michigan University. Dave spent most of his career with The Kellogg Company and for the last 15 years, worked as the Idled Asset Project Manager.

David was united in marriage to Carrie (Cole) Haley on August 1, 1992 at St. Philip Catholic Church and recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. David is survived by his wife, Carrie Haley; children, McKenna, Kameron and Hunter Haley, of Battle Creek, John Haley of Middleville and Chris (Stacy) Haley of Indian Trail, NC, three grandchildren and brothers and sister-in-law, Tom Cole, Tim Cole and Connie (Doug) Burland and several nieces and nephews. David is preceded by his parents and sister, Beth Blome.

David coached his children in their many athletic endeavors. As a volunteer, he filmed teams sporting events and recorded game statistics for the St. Philip Basketball and Football programs. David was a member of St. Philip Parish. He was also a former board member of the Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools Foundation and The Jaycees.

Dave enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed spending time at Fine Lake on his boat "Woody" with his family. Dave was also known as a handyman. Whether it's automotive, mechanical or home repair, he could fix it.

Friends will be received from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2022 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philip Catholic Church 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools Foundation, 63 North 24th Street, Battle Creek, MI 49015 or to the St. Philip Parish Restore and Renew Fund, 112 Capital Ave. N.E. Battle Creek, MI 49017.
