David C. Holdridge, age 79, of Richland died Tuesday morning, December 29, 2015 at the Plainwell Pines Nursing Centre in Kalamazoo. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on February 13, 1936, the loving son of Maurice and Gladys (Chilson) Holdridge, and faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army. David retired from Zimmerman Service in 1998 after more than 30+ years of service as a plumber.
David married the "Love of his Life", Nellie E. Knetsch in Richland on June 14, 1963; she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Lori Wilson of Hickory Corners; his sons, Brian Holdridge and Mark (Karen) Holdridge , both of Richland; six grandchildren, Craig & Megan Wilson, Derek, Ben, Kelsey and Landon Holdridge; two great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Patricia (James) Locey and Janice Force. David was sadly preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Thomas & Douglas Holdridge.
Dave enjoyed playing cards with friends, working in his yard, camping, traveling the country along with finding bargains at area garage sales. He enjoyed repairing small engine equipment and was always willing to help friends and family with any projects given his unique mechanical abilities.
The family will receive friends 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2016 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel where a memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Memorials may be directed to Great Lakes Caring Hospice or the charity of one's choice.
