David Alexander Hunt

David Alexander Hunt, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 93 years old.

Dave was born on November 28, 1932, in Lansing, Michigan, and grew up in East Lansing.

Throughout his life, Michigan remained an important part of who he was, and he was a proud, avid supporter of University of Michigan athletics. Dave served his country as a United States Navy pilot from 1952 until 1958. Following his military service, he earned his MBA from the University of Michigan, where he was a member of the Phi Epsilon fraternity.

Dave enjoyed a long and successful career in business and advertising. He worked in the corporate world for many years before spending more than three decades in advertising within the Marshall and Kalamazoo areas. He was highly respected for his professionalism, intelligence, integrity, and, perhaps most importantly, the lifelong friendships he developed throughout his career.

Dave was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 wonderful years, Anne Mustard Hunt. Over their six decades together, they made their homes in several places, including Pompano Beach, Florida, Kalamazoo, and Battle Creek. They were fortunate to spend many winters together in Fort Myers, Florida, after retiring, while spending the rest of the year enjoying their home and life on Goguac Lake.

Dave had a genuine love for the water, and some of his happiest times were spent on the lake, whether boating, relaxing at home, or simply enjoying the peaceful scenery. He especially loved spending summers on their boat in Holland, Michigan. For Dave, the lake and boating were more than just hobbies; they were a way of life, a place to relax, and a source of countless wonderful memories.

An active sportsman, Dave loved golf and tennis, and he was a longtime member of the Battle Creek Country Club. He also looked forward to afternoon pool games with his close friends. In addition to athletics, Dave held a lifelong appreciation for modern architecture and design, fascinated by the clean lines, thoughtful layouts, and unique character of modern structures. This interest was a true reflection of his natural curiosity and his eye for what made a place special.

Dave also had a deep, lifelong love for dogs, holding a special affection for German Shepherds throughout his life. He leaves behind his favorite husky, "Lady," who was his constant companion and provided immense comfort and quiet devotion during his time of sickness.

Those who knew Dave will remember him as a kind, intelligent, generous, and loyal friend who had a deep appreciation for life and the people around him. He truly cherished his time in Florida, his love of boating, golf, and tennis, afternoon pool games, his architectural interests, and following Michigan sports. He was the kind of person whose friendship endured for decades, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Dave is survived by his brother, John Hunt of Lancaster, California, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.

At Dave’s request, there will be no visitation or formal services. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are being handled by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care.
