David John Merriman, age 45, of Battle Creek sadly passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 21, 2018. He was born in Battle Creek on May 26, 1973, and was the son of David George Merriman and Elsa Dawn Campbell. David graduated from Pennfield High School, where he played football, and furthered his education at ITT Technical Institute. He worked in computer networking, and as a carpenter & handyman.
David is survived by his daughters, Chloe Merriman and Caitlin Rowell; his parents; his sisters, Anna Dix, Heather Riddle, and his granddaughter, Mia Asher. He was preceded in death by the "Love of His Life", and mother of his children, Rondell Walters; his grandparents, Anna Allen and Fred & Mary Merriman; and his aunts & uncles, Janet, Tonia, Darlene, Dan and Richard.
David was always fascinated with machines and loved anything mechanical that he could take apart and rebuild. He loved to find different ways to make things work. He was a talented woodworker and builder, and could build anything. David even helped with the remodeling of the Lakeview Square Mall in the 2000's. He also loved guns, hunting & fishing, and riding motorcycles & dirt bikes.
The family will received friends 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral home & Cremation Care where services to celebrate David's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to David's family c/o his daughter Chloe.
