David Spencer

David Spencer, 76, of Battle Creek, died June 9, 2014. David was born April 23, 1938 in Chesterfield, SC to Thomas and Daisey (Hillian) Spencer. He graduated from high school and worked various construction jobs, most recently at CNC Construction, where he helped build the Harper Creek High School and Kmart. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards and visiting casinos.

David is survived by his loving wife, Jessie; a daughter, Joann Caldwell of Ypsilanti; a son, Aliton Spencer of Battle Creek; a daughter, Patricia Howard of Battle Creek; two step-sons, Carlos Williams and DeArka Swift; a sister, Annie Spencer; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 9 great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Josephine; a sister, Mary Drake and two brothers, Lee Thomas Spencer and John Roberts Spencer.

Funeral services to celebrate David's life will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 16, 2014 in the chapel at Oak Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rev. James Perry. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
