Deborah L. "Debbie" Beronja

Mar 9, 1953 — Sep 9, 2026

Battle Creek, MI

Deborah “Debbie” Lee Beronja passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Debbie was born on March 9, 1953, and throughout her life, caring for others came naturally to her. She cared deeply for her family and friends, but her kindness did not stop there. Debbie had a way of caring for just about anyone she met and was always willing to give her time to the people around her.

Family was at the center of Debbie’s life. She volunteered at her children’s schools and, years later, continued that tradition by volunteering at her grandchildren’s schools. Being involved in their lives and supporting the people she loved was simply part of who she was.

Debbie was also incredibly talented with a sewing machine. She spent countless hours sewing and creating, working hard to prepare for arts and crafts shows. Her creativity, patience, and skill could be seen in the things she made and shared with others.

And Debbie loved to shop. For her, shopping wasn’t a chore—it was fun. She had a remarkable ability to find just the right gift for someone, often seeming to know exactly what a person would enjoy. Giving to others brought her happiness, and finding that perfect gift was part of the joy.

Debbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred Beronja; her father, Robert Knapp; her mother, Marjorie (White) Polcik; her sisters, Kay Knapp, Brenda Cronk, and Vicki Knapp; and her brother, Robert Knapp.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Gabriel and Cindy Beronja and Nathan and Jennifer Beronja; and her grandchildren, Dreyma, Jake, Tyler, Zachary, and Amanda.

Debbie will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the things she created with her own hands, the time she gave to her family and community, and the many ways—both big and small—she made the people around her feel cared for.
