Delbert Leroy "Del" Holroyd

Delbert L. "Del" Holroyd of Kalamazoo, MI

Del, age 96, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018, at his home.

Del was born November 19, 1921 in Foley, MN, the son of Milo and Emma (Bigelow) Holroyd. A lifelong resident of Cooper Township, Delbert attended Richland Schools and served his Country honorably and nobly in the United States Army during World War II in the China-Burma-India theater. A master mechanic, Delbert taught 4-H courses in a variety of subjects and was a longtime member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church of Richland and the Hickory Lodge # 345, F. & A.M.

Del is survived by his wife, Wanda; a stepson, Ray (Robin) Paris of Nashville, Tennessee; sisters, Elnora Lumbard of Kalamazoo, Arlene Strong of Merrill, MI and Lillian Rackley of Plainwell, MI and several nieces and nephews. Del was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Edward Holroyd; five sisters; four brothers and his first wife, Grace E. Holroyd.

Del's family will greet friends on Friday, Nov. 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89). The Memorial Service to celebrate Del's life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Joel L. Turmo, Rector of St. Timothy Epsicopal Church, officiating. Interment will follow in East Cooper (Township) Cemetery with the United States Army Honor Guard bestowing military honors. Family and friends will continue Del's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon immediately following the committal service at St. Timothy Episcopal Church, 9800 East BC Avenue, Richland, MI 49083. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church (see address above).
