Diana Lynn Kempf, age 50, of Battle Creek, MI, died Wednesday afternoon, March 6, 2013, at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer for the past five years.
Diana, the daughter of Gordon D. and Nancy J. (Henning) Eldred, was born on May 7, 1962 in Battle Creek. She was a 1980 graduate of Harper Creek High School; attended Kellogg Community College for Accounting and Computers and had been employed at Hi-Lex and the Battle Creek Enquirer as a computer programmer. Diana was known as the "Horse Crazy Girl" all her life, right up until her death because she had her saddle in the kitchen! She was in 4-H from age 9 until 18 attending horse shows all the time with "Sox." Diana was a Reserved National Champion-Peruvian in 2004 with "Munequita." When not on a horse, she was a true "Computer Geek!"
Diana is survived by her parents, Gordie and Nancy Eldred of Battle Creek; her son, Harold Duane Daniels of Lansing, MI; her daughter, Debra L. (Chris) Kimmel of Anglewood, TX; a step-grandson, Christopher Kimmel; her two brothers, Denis J. (Patti) Eldred of Battle Creek and Martin D. (Susan) Eldred of Marcellus, MI and close friend and roommate, Karla Chapman of Battle Creek.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, March 11th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Diana's honor may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 1400 West Milham Road, Portage, MI 49024 or Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice, 166 E. Goodale Avenue, Battle Creek, MI 49017.
