Dolores Eberdean "Dodie" Rogers of Augusta, MI






Dodie, age 85, died Tuesday evening, December 2, 2014 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence of Battle Creek, MI and surrounded by her loving family.

Dodie, the daughter of Lloyd Forrest and Ina Ruby (Kinsey) Tharp, was born on July 9, 1929 in Muncie, IN. She had been a Registered Nurse at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was a Lifetime honorary Cub Scout Leader and a member of the Open Bible and Assembly of God Church, in Pinellas Park, Florida, their place of residence for most of their married life. She also annually played Santa and a Carnival Clown at her kid's elementary school. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Post Office. She liked to dance, listen to country music and watch wrestling on TV with her grandchildren.

Dodie was united in marriage to Paul E. Rogers on May 23, 1953 in Richmond, IN. Surviving is her husband of 61 years, Paul; her daughter, Ginger L. (Rick) Slone of Augusta; her son, Michael A. (Luella) Rogers of Pinellas Park, FL; a step-daughter, Paulette Johnson of St. Petersburg, FL; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister Barb Hines of Palmetto, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. Dodie was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; two brothers and several cousins.

The Graveside Service to celebrate Dodie's life will be held on Saturday, December 6th at 1:00 p.m. in Spring Lawn Cemetery, New Paris, OH, with the Rev. Marvin Hocker of Camden, OH, officiating. The Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel (269-629-6022) is in charge of all the arrangements.
