Donald "Don" Phillips

Don's journey on earth began on July 23, 1929 and ended on Sunday, August 14, 2016, after a lengthy illness. Don was surrounded by family.

Don began his life in West Virginia with parents, Stella Marie and Frank Charles.

Don married Dorothy (Hopkins) on October 17, 1956, to whom he was married for 59 years, parted by his death. Together they raised 3 children and 2 stepchildren: Denese Gorske of Hartford, MI, Donnie (Betty) Phillips and Darryl Phillips of Galesburg, Doris Smith of Delton and Diane Sternaman, who preceded him in death. He was also survived by 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Don was a proud Korean Vet and a lifetime member of the Augusta VFW Post 7956 and a member of the teamsters.

Don was raised with 7 brothers and sisters, three of which preceded him in death. Don was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law and an infant son.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 10:30am at Fort Custer National Cemetery with a luncheon to follow hosted by the VFW Post 7956 in Augusta, Michigan.
