Donald Clare "Don" Ellis of Scotts, MI

Don, age 88, died Thursday morning, March 10, 2016 and surrounded by his loving family.

Don, the son of Harry L. and Helen L. (Headlee) Ellis, was born in Augusta, MI on July 16, 1927; was lifetime area resident and a 1946 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. He was employed at the Kellogg Company in the Engineering Department, retiring in 1989 after 43 years of faithful service. Don loved his entire family and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Don was united in marriage to Norma Jean (nee: Manning) in Battle Creek on July 27, 1946 and she sadly preceded him in death on October 3, 2007. Surviving are his children, Clare L. (Mary) Ellis of Battle Creek, Guy J. (Susan) Ellis of Irons, MI, Scott V. (Bonnie) Ellis of Battle Creek, Gena M. (Ned) Petersen of Wylie, TX, Reed S. (Laura) Ellis of Rexburg, ID, Liz A. (Kent) Wilson of Richmond, KY; twenty three grandchildren; fifty two great grandchildren and two brothers, Al (Dee) Ellis of Topinabee, MI and Ross Ellis of Pensacola, FL. Don was also preceded in death by his parents.

The Funeral Service to celebrate Don's life will be held on Thursday, March 17th at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1312 Capital Avenue, SW, Battle Creek, MI 49015, with Bishop Jonathan Wyatt, Presiding. Interment will follow at Bedford (MI) Cemetery. Don's family will greet friends on Wednesday, March 16th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek and on Thursday, one hour prior to the Service at the Church. Memorial contributions in Don's honor may be directed to the donor's choice.
