Donald Eugene Shive

Donald Eugene Shive, 64, of Battle Creek passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Donnie was born August 16, 1961 in Battle Creek, MI, the son of Donald W. Shive and Lamoura “Corky” Varner. He attended Battle Creek Public Schools and Battle Creek Central High School, graduating in 1980. He worked various jobs while in high school and after graduating.

Don served in the military with the US Air Force for three and a half years as an Administration Specialist. After leaving the military, he worked at American Fibrit and ABC Warehouse.

Donnie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed crocheting, gardening, listening to music and watching TV.

He is survived by his son Nicholas VanCleave, brother Mike Shive (Robin Patterson), sister Renay Creech (Sam), special nephew Ryan Shive, two grandsons, special cousin Cindy Poth, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Scott Shive, grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Inurnment and military honors will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1. A celebration of life will follow from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post #298. Personal messages for Donnie’s family may be shared at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
