Donald Carlton Snow, family man, businessman and faithful friend, age 79, of Richland died at Bronson Hospital on Friday, November 9, 2018. Don was born April 3, 1939 the son of Carlton and Marian Snow, and was raised in Milwood.
As a teenager, Don worked with his father at Snow's Pharmacy. A 1957 graduate of Kalamazoo Central, he went on to Ferris and graduated from W.M.U. Don served several years in the Air National Guard.
In 1962, he married his love, Joyce Probasco. They enjoyed skiing, paddle tennis and golf. After a few years, they built a home on Gull lake where their three children grew up. Don was owner and chief operator of Probasco's on the Kalamazoo Mall and of Creative Window Treatments in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids.
One of Don's hobbies, carving and painting wooden decoys, earned him the title " Duck-a-day Don." An "early to bed and early to rise" guy, Don was on the road by 5:30 a.m. and determined to be home by 9:00 p.m. Friends will remember his quirky sense of humor, practical jokes and even successful matchmaking for a widower buddy.
Don leaves his family: wife, Joyce; children, Geoff (Kelly), Molly (Christy), and Patrick (Virginia) Snow; siblings, Sally (Tom) Cassell, Mike (Eileen) Snow, and Carl "Spike"(Sue) Snow; five beloved grandchildren, Griffin, Kirby, Samson, Payton Snow and Shya Sumner; plus several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a casual celebration of Don's life on Saturday, November 24th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Gull Lake View Golf Course in Augusta, MI. Donations made to the Animal Rescue Project of Kalamazoo or any local pet shelter, would be appreciated. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel.
