Donald J. "Don" West

Donald J. "Don" West, age 84, of Battle Creek died peacefully on Monday afternoon, July 13, 2015. He was born in Battle Creek on March 17, 1931, the loving son of Ernest and Faye West and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1949. Don furthered his education at Michigan State University, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, and faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army. He retired in 2013 after more than 50 years in Realty and owner of Circle-West Realty.

Don married the "Love of His Life", Joyce West in Meriden, Connecticut on September 9, 1961; she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Julie (Dustin) Fox of Battle Creek; his grandchildren, Paige & Kyle Fox of Battle Creek, and an uncle, Robert (Iris) Gilbert of Battle Creek. Don was preceded in death by his parents.

Don was a true Michigan State Spartan fan with a great sense of humor and loved playing tennis, fishing, and spending time with his pets and his family. He was a member of the National Association of Realtors, Past-President of the Battle Creek Association of Realtors, a member of the Michigan State Alumni Association, and a charter member of the Pennfield Exchange Club.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses and staff at the Marian E. Burch Adult Day Care Center, the Oaks, Bronson @ Home Hospice and the Battle Creek Manor for taking such great care of Don. You were all truly a Blessing.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 20, 2015 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where funeral services to celebrate Don's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
