Donald William "Don" Youngs

Donald William "Don" Youngs, age 79, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, December 17, 2019. He was born in Battle Creek on February 14, 1940, the son of William D. and Dorothy B. (Aldrich) Youngs. Don faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and retired from Post Cereals in 1995 after more than 25 years.

Don married the "Love of His Life", Donna May Steely in Fort Collins, Colorado on September 5, 1959; she survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Diane (Terry) Patterson of Graham Lake, Sue (Joe) Eldred of Battle Creek, Sandy (Matt) Kenenne of Battle Creek, and Karen (Rich) Ball of Springfield; seventeen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers & sisters.

Don was a very hardworking man that always had at least two jobs until he went to work for Post. He was truly a great guy who would do anything for someone in need. Family was everything to Don and he enjoyed spending time with all of them, especially his grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 20th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where services to celebrate Don's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Reese Cemetery, Springfield.
