Dora Janette (Weimer) Drayton

Dora Janette (Weimer) Drayton, age 97, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully on Monday morning, September 20, 2021 at the Laurels of Bedford. She was born in Battle Creek on August 29, 1924, the loving daughter of Ernest J. and Flossie K. (Callender) Weimer.

Dora is survived by her two sons, David (Jean) Drayton and John (Charlene) Drayton, both of Battle Creek; her grandchildren, Alan (Ilo) Drayton, Denice (Tom) Wilder, Debbie (Brian) Casterline, Teresa (Emery) Giles, Jerry Johnson, and Connie (Tom) Hall; her great-grandchildren, Ayrianna, Aidan & Ava Drayton, Robert John & Lacey Wiggins, Cierra Casterline, Tara & Josh Asher, Chase Dailey, Sonja & Jake Giles, and Ayla Johnson; her great-great grandchildren, Legend Leone Hess, Taylor Gregory and Waylon Giles; a brother, Larry Weimer; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Nancy Kathleen Lubking on September 10, 2021; a granddaughter, Nellie (Drayton) Hess; a great-grandson, Johnathon Hess; a brother, Donnie Weimer; and two sisters, Leatha Wolverton and Laura June Hardin.

Dora's favorite color was red and she enjoyed collecting red birds (Cardinals), teddy bears, and bird houses. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, flower gardening, crossword puzzles and listening to old Country & Western music.

Dora's family will receive friends at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Dora's life will be begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may directed to the charity of one's choice.
