Dora Jean Romig, age 84, of Battle Creek, passed away suddenly on Friday morning, June 10, 2016 at the Evergreen Senior Care & Rehab Center. She was born in Assyria Twp. On May 6, 1932, the loving daughter of Clyde E. and Carrie L. (Thompson) Marble. Dora had various jobs throughout the area, but her favorite was driving school bus for Harper Creek Schools.
Dora married the "Love of Her Life", Robert P. Romig, Sr. in Angola, Indiana on May 1, 1954; he sadly preceded her in death on September 7, 1995. She is survived by her daughters, Terri L. (Michael) Hammond, Pamela J. (Dale) Decker, and Carol L. (Gary) Rice; her sons, Robert P. (Mary) Romig, Jr., and Richard A. (Lisa) Romig; eight grandchildren, Jason Rhodes, Deanne Haughey, Lindsey Basco, Derek Rice, Bobby Livingston, Garrett Rice, Joey Romig, and Matt Romig; eleven great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Donna Roach, Joan Miller, and Irene McPherson. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Dora was an avid lover of all things "Elvis" and enjoyed listening to Elvis and spending time in her "Elvis" Room. She enjoyed Christmas time when she could enjoy displaying her angel collection. Dora enjoyed going to Casinos, cake decorating, and playing marbles and Hand & Foot. She loved animals, especially horses and cats, but she truly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 13, 2016 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where funeral services to celebrate Dora's life will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2016. Interment will follow at Beckley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donation to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.
