Doris Marie David

Doris Marie David, age 96, of Battle Creek died peacefully on Wednesday morning, February 5, 2014 at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She was born in Pavilion Township, Michigan on August 4, 1917, the loving daughter of Harry O. and Eliza M. (Kelly) Pierce and graduated from Climax-Scotts High School.
Doris married George L. David on April 28, 1937; he sadly preceded her in death on November 4, 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Georgia (Rex) Eddy, Joyce (Gary) Krontz, and Dorothy Fletcher, all of Battle Creek; 7 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren. Doris was also sadly preceded in death by her son, George L. David Jr.; 2 grandchildren; 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Doris and George lived in Athens, Greece in 1978 while George started a Corn Flake factory there. She was an active member of the Minges Hills Church of God and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, word scrambles and cooking.
The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where funeral services to celebrate her life will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 10, 2014.
