Doris Elaine (Koteskey) Phares of Battle Creek, MI
Doris, age 91, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at her residence.
Doris, the daughter of William and Ethel (Osterle) Koteskey, was born on June 11, 1923 in Bay City, MI and moved to this area from Long Beach, CA in 1963. She was a long time secretary for the Verona Elementary School. Doris had been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Battle Creek and the Retired School Employees Union. She enjoyed reading, knitting and working crossword puzzles, but her true passion in life was her family.
Doris was united in marriage to Lieutenant Commander John V. Phares on February 15, 1947 in Bay City, MI and he sadly preceded her in death on May 20, 2001. Surviving is her daughter, Lindsey Marion (James) Radowski of Muskegon, MI; her five precious grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Miles, Meredith (Steve) Huff, Nicholas (Teresa) Phares, Matthew (Lisa) Radowski and Rebecca (Adam) Zobl; six great grandchildren and her daughter-in-law, Kay T. Phares of Battle Creek. Doris was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Max Victor Phares on September 22, 2008; three sisters and a brother.
A Private, Family Graveside Service will be held in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, John. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Doris' honor may be directed to Bronson @ Home Hospice, 166 E. Goodale Avenue, Battle Creek, MI 49017. The Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek is in charge of the arrangements.
