Dorlee Odessa "Lee" (Liechty) Fredy, 76, of Battle Creek died peacefully with her family at her side, at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence, on Thursday, December 6, 2018.
Lee was born March 20, 1942 in Wauseon, Ohio the daughter of Vergil and Delphia (Shaffer) Liechty. Battle Creek has been her home since moving here as a child with her family. Lee was 1960 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and earned an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Kellogg Community College.
Lee was formerly married to Douglas Southern. Lee married Jimee A. Fredy on October 24, 1987. Together they owned and operated Jim Fredy & Wife Painting. Lee was also employed as an account payable clerk at Kendall Electric, retiring in 2007.
Sadly Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Jim on August 31, 2011. Surviving are her children, Steven (Heidi) Southern of Scottsdale, Arizona, Lorinda (Brian) Brannan of Battle Creek; stepchildren, Shannon Grammer of Battle Creek, Kevin Fredy of Draper Utah; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Liechty and Robert (Paula) Liechty both of Battle Creek; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. In addition to her husband, Lee was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Liechty.
Lee was an active member of Emmett Street Missionary Church, working on lunches, dinners and the "Blessing of The Neighbors" meals. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the Women's Bowling Association. She volunteered at Bronson Battle Creek. Lee loved spending time with her family and as a foster grandmother to her beloved first graders at Post Franklin Schools.
Friends will be received 2:00 â 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 â 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2018, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Funeral services to celebrate Lee's life will be held at Emmett Street Missionary Church 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
