After 45 years of teaching, mostly in the Gull Lake School system, grade school and summer school, and Sunday School at Day Bible Church, she retired to spend time with family and life-long friends. She pursued her passion of photo taking, filling a multitude of photo albums, bird watching – joining in the yearly back-yard bird count and flower gardening – competing in the Kalamazoo County Fair with her flower arrangements. Other quality time was spent at family reunions, pedro card parties and welcoming school and neighbor children to her home for trick or treat and fun costumes. In later years, Dorothy spent time watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at sporting events. Family and friends were the most important part of her life. She will be thought of fondly by many who came in contact with her winning smile and kind soul and will be missed dearly.
