Dorothy Jean Garrett (Taylor) Dunithan of Augusta, MI

Dorothy, age 71, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, October 21, 2018 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, MI with her loving family at her side.

Dorothy, the daughter of Mervin Garrett and Georgia (Mensch) Taylor, was born in Battle Creek, MI on March 3, 1947 and was raised and lived her whole life in Augusta.

She was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Nana, Great Nana and a dear friend to many. She will always have a place in our Hearts.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Rick (Eric) T. Dunithan in Augusta on April 4, 1964. Surviving is her husband of 54 years, Rick; two daughters, Jean Marie Kreiner of Elkhart, IN and Deborah Sue (Mark) Makowski of Augusta; her son, Thomas Wayne (Dawn) Dunithan of Galesburg; ten precious grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren ; four sisters, Karen Hite of Galesburg, Sue Holcomb of CT, Joy (Bill) Whipple and Gaynell Lantis, both of Augusta and her brother, Jack (Ida) Taylor of Galesburg. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Frankie Lantis and three brothers, David, Wayne and Ray Taylor.

Dorothy's family will greet friends on Tuesday, October 23rd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel, 307 N. Webster Street. The Funeral Service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held on Wednesday, October 24th at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Roseann Makowski, officiating. Interment will follow in Augusta Cemetery. Family and friends will continue Dorothy's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon immediately following the committal service at the Custer V.F.W. Post # 7956, 13540 West M-96. Memorial contributions in Dorothy's honor may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center, 200 North Park Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
