Dorothy E. Stripe

Dorothy E. Stripe, 87, of Battle Creek, died Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born March 8, 1926, the daughter of Edward and Anna O. (Sikkila) Leaf of Covington, MI and was a 1944 graduate of L'Anse High School. On October 5, 1950 Dorothy E. Leaf was united in marriage to David L. Stripe in Marquette, MI. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by her two daughters Catherine L. (Doug) Ludlow of Battle Creek and Mary E. (Bryan) Stiemsma of Dowling; a son, James D. (Tina) Stripe of Albert Lea, MN; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Harvey and Roger Leaf; and a sister, Signe Smith. Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Theresa Stripe in 1967; her parents; two sisters, Viola Leaf and Daisy Lenz and a brother, Clarence Leaf .
Dorothy was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, and was a proud member of the Y's menettes, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and sewing.
A visitation will be held after 5:00pm Friday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek, MI where the family will receive friends from 5-7pm. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 24, 2013 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church; 349 Capital Ave. N.E., with Pastor Vincent Iqbal officiating.
