Dorothy Jean (Billings) Huston

Dorothy Jean Huston, 92, a lifelong Battle Creek resident died peacefully at Miller AFC Home in Marshall, Michigan on Sunday, July 10, 2016.

Dorothy was born October 20, 1923 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Benjamin Harrison and Leota (Alexander) Billings. She was a 1941 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and remained active with her high school class reunion committee. Dorothy was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Joseph Huston, Jr. on June 14, 1941 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Sadly she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe on May 22, 2011. Surviving are a son, Joseph K. (Judy) Huston of Buckley, MI; a daughter, Judyth K. (Phil Straniero) Kellogg of Hickory Corners, MI; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Billings of Lake Havasu City, AZ. In addition to her husband, Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Billings and a sister and brother-in-law, Geneva and Robert Lint.

Daily, Dorothy walked four miles at the mall and visited with everyone. She loved everything pink and everything chocolate. Dorothy and Joe enjoyed wintering on Hutchinson Island and in Jensen Beach, FL from 1976 until 2004. They enjoyed traveling together for thousands of miles with their trailer and in their motor home throughout the United States. They also traveled abroad to many countries. She formerly was involved in the Mother's Walk for the March of Dimes, active in the PTA, Jaycees and as a Campfire Girl Leader.

Dorothy was buried next to her husband Joe at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
