Dorothy D.J. Kleynenberg, age 80, of Battle Creek died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Bronson of Battle Creek. She was born in Battle Creek on February 1, 1934, the daughter of Edward and Meta (Ploehn) Lynn. Dorothy dedicated most of her life as a homemaker, but had previously been employed at the Weston Biscuit Company.
Dorothy married James E. "Jim" Kleynenberg at the St. Philip Catholic Church in Battle Creek on January 24, 1953; he survives. She is also survived by her son, Alan J. Kleynenberg of Battle Creek; her brother, Ronald O'Keefe of Alabama; her special children, Terry & Linnea Staines; her special grandchildren, Aaron & Kyle Staines, and several nieces & nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald O'Keefe.
A very loving and giving woman, Dorothy volunteered many hours at the Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center in Augusta and was a dedicated member of the Our Lady of Great Oak Catholic Church in Lacey. Dorothy truly loved spending time with her family & friends, and enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Francis A. Marotti at the St. Philip Roman Catholic Church of Battle Creek, 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014.
