Dorothy Pauline (Boyd) Phelps, 92, of Battle Creek, died peacefully at home with her family at her side on Friday, June 10, 2022.
Dorothy Pauline Boyd was born November 9, 1929 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Milo Glen and Beatrice B. (Balsley) Boyd. She was a 1947 graduate of Kellogg Consolidated Schools. "Pauline" was employed for two years at Consumer's Power Company and in the business office for eleven years at Visiting Nurse Services, retiring in 1991.
Dorothy Pauline Boyd was united in marriage to Robert Frederick Phelps on February 5, 1949 in Angola, Indiana. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her husband Bob on August 12, 2000. Surviving are their three children, Steven J. Phelps of Newberry, FL, Richard W. (Marta) Phelps of Battle Creek, Stephany K. Looper of Battle Creek; seven grandchildren, James (Harmony) Looper, Kristen (Adam) Graves, Benjamin (Seanna) Phelps, Kalyn Earl, Brian Phelps, Brittany (Drew) Miller, Brad Phelps and ten great-grandchildren. Dorothy Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, sister Audrey M. MacDonald, brother Wendell G. Boyd, and Son-in-law Bobby Looper.
Dorothy Pauline was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. She enjoyed golfing and bowling. She loved working in her yard and always kept it meticulous. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her number-one priority in life. She will lovingly be remembered as "Granny".
Friends will be received 5:00 â 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2022 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. A private family committal service will be held at Bedford Cemetery, where Pauline will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bob.
