Dorothy Virginia Reid

Dorothy Virginia (Adams) Reid, 100, died Monday, April 27, 2015 at Evergreen Senior Care. Dorothy was born February 26, 1915 in Olivet, Michigan, one of seven children of Guy and Jennie Adams. She graduated high school in 1932 and Olivet College in 1936. Dorothy worked at Willard Library for many years under Helen Warner, head librarian. After trying retirement for a few years she went to work for Shouldice Sheet Metal Co., finally retiring in 1975. Dorothy and her husband, Vince, enjoyed many winters in the warm Florida sunshine where she enjoyed shuffleboard.

Dorothy joined the First the Congregational Church in 1944 where she was an active member of the Betsy Williams Circle and held most of the circle's offices. She was also a member of the Battle Creek Healthcare System Auxiliary with over 2000 volunteer hours.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Vince, infant son Phillip Daniel Robinson, brothers Leland, Hugh, Robert and Kent Adams, sisters Mary Adams and Betty Hovarter, Stepson George Reid and stepdaughter Marion Ball. She is survived by her son Michael E. Robinson and his wife Jacqueline of Severna Park, Maryland, daughter Anne Lee (Robinson) Kachel of Garland, Texas, stepson Robert Reid of Coldwater, Michigan, and lifelong friend Lola Cosgrove of Springfield, Michigan, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A private family grave side service will be held at the Hicks Cemetery. Donations may be made to the First Congregational Church or the Bronson Good Samaritan Hospice. Arrangements by the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Personal messages for the family may be made at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
