Dorothy A. Sloan

Dorothy Ann “Doti” (Ellis) Sloan, 84, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, February 27, 2024 with family by her side under the care of Centrica Hospice.

Doti was born December 23, 1939 in Johnson City, Tennessee to Zanna and Mary Ruth (Branscomb) Ellis. Doti enjoyed spending time with her husband before his passing, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. As a small child she enjoyed playing dolls, spending time with her sisters Nancy and Norma and her cat named Brownie. She enjoyed playing euchre and uno with friends, traveling across the United States in their RV, especially to the Upper Peninsula stopping at every lighthouse along the way.  

Doti was preceded in death by her parents Zana Ellis and Mary Ruth Elam, her sister Nancy Brown, her husband Richard Sloan and son John Eric Wickstrom. She is survived by her sister, Norma Cox, children, Nanalie (Jon) DePew, Tannya Wickstrom, Detra (Bob) Wilkerson, and Raymond Sloan; grandchildren, Nicole (Gregg), Heather, Jon Michael (Kristen), Jesse (Cassie), Alyssa (David), Raeann, Samantha, Annabelle, Robert David, Ryker, Amanda, and Amber; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Elliana, Mia, Noah, Alex, Mason, Josephine, Ellie and Connor. She will be missed dearly by all of those who love her.

Funeral services to celebrate Doti’s life will be 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2024 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.   Visitation will be Thursday, March 7^th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Doti to American Heart Association or Centrica Hospice.  Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
