Douglas Arthur “Dougie Fresh” Boyer, age 64, passed away on August 21, 2025, in Bedford, Michigan. Born on August 25, 1960, in Battle Creek, Michigan, Doug lived a life defined by devotion—to his family, his work, and the countless people fortunate enough to know him.

Doug attended Kellogg Community College briefly before pursuing further education in skilled trades, focusing on sheet metal fabrication and welding. His early career was spent doing bodywork on cars, a natural fit for someone who loved working with his hands and had an eye for detail. He later found his professional home at Post Foods, where he dedicated 34 years of hard work and loyalty.

Doug was a beloved son to Joann (Dorothy) Boyer and the late Arthur Boyer. He was a cherished brother to Sue Smith (Steve), as well as to Karen Boyer. His role as a father brought him immense pride and joy. He leaves behind his daughters Britney Boyer, Ashley Eckhardt (Erik Eckhardt), and Jessica Bishop (Michael Bishop), and his son Brandon Boyer. Along with a big family of loving nephews, nieces, and cousins. Doug’s legacy continues through his grandchildren: Jack and Lucy; Liam, Layne, and Landon; and Knox and Benson.

Doug’s life was rich with passion and purpose. He found joy in the simple pleasures—riding his 2013 yellow Street Glide with friends, fixing or building anything that needed his touch, enjoying cold beer paired with live music, and most of all, spending time with his beloved children and grandchildren. If you needed help—whether it was a ride, a repair, or just someone to lean on—Doug would be there without hesitation. Doing anything and everything for those he loved wasn’t just something he did; it was who he was.

To those who knew him, Doug was more than just a man—he was a force of nature. A pillar of strength with a smile that could break through any darkness. His heart was pure gold; his soul selfless beyond measure. When Doug entered a room, he didn’t just brighten it—he filled it with warmth and light that radiated from within. That light came from years of hard work, unwavering love for his family, and an unshakable belief in the value of living life fully and generously.

Though his time here ended too soon, the love Doug gave so freely continues to ripple outward. It lives on in every act of kindness inspired by his example, in every laugh that carries the echo of his own joy, and in every memory that brings both comfort and tears. Doug is not truly gone—he is everywhere love is shared.

This is a tragic loss for everyone who had the honor of knowing him. May he rest peacefully in heaven alongside his father Arthur and ride once more with his best friend Jeff.

The family has created an incredible slideshow of memories and it may be viewed at https://vimeo.com/1116211730.
