Doyal A. Woody

July 29, 1947 — September 20, 2013

Doyal Anthony Woody, age 66, of Battle Creek, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, September 20, 2013. He was born to Mitchell and Lucille J. Woody on July 29, 1947 in Dayton, OH. Doyal attended Pennfield Schools until he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967 and served until 1970. He was a proud Vietnam Vet.
Doyal married the love of his life, best friend and soul mate of 37 years, Vicky on September 17, 1976. Doyal was an independent business owner in Battle Creek for many years before he retired in 2002. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening (mostly his tomato plants) and especially enjoyed having his morning cup of coffee on his back porch with his wife and his dogs while watching the deer and wild turkeys.
Doyal was the tree trunk of his family, strong and supportive. He was a selfless, loving, kind, loyal man who loved spending time with his family and friends. He was the kind of man that would give you whatever it was that you needed without judgment or question. He was one of a kind and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Doyal is survived by his loving wife, Victoria A Woody; son, Anthony D. (Ann) Woody; daughter, Hope L. (Mike) Pingle; grandchildren, Tayler N. Woody, Mitchell A. Woody, Shelby L. Woody and Braden L Powell, and a brother, Michael (Nancy) Woody. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell Woody and Lucille J. Woody, and a nephew, Michael Woody.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where funeral services to celebrate Doyal's life will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, September 25, 2013 with Pastor Harold Cosby of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Humane Society of South Central Michigan or the Battle Creek VA Medical Center Community and Volunteer Service.
