Duane Lee Daam

1956-2023

Duane played his last round of golf on November 16, 2023.  Even though his heart failed him, Duane will remain in the hearts of his family and many friends.  Duane was born to William and Mary Donafae Daam in Kalamazoo, Michigan on February 20, 1956, and graduated from Gull Lake High School in 1974.

Duane had a lifelong love of golf and the outdoors. His early career in sales, combined with his outgoing personality and passion for golf, took him to many golf courses throughout the State where he made many friends. 

After a lengthy career in the E & F Dept at Target Distribution Center, spent many years caring for his mother and the family home in Galesburg.  His retirement did not last long as he took on the challenge of caring for the grounds at Heritage Retirement Community where he will be remembered for his helpful attitude and cheerful smile.  If that wasn’t enough, he also found his way back to the greens by working part time at various golf courses around the area.

Duane, son of William and Mary Daam, will be lovingly remembered by brother, William (Sandra) Daam; sister, Barbara Briggs; nephew, Ryan Daam; niece, Kristina Briggs, great nephews, Malikai Lewis and Mateus Hunter, as well as special friends, Tim and Amanda Neitzel, Bob Schwary, Nelson Heistand, cherished cats, Polly and Suzie, and many friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.  Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel.  Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
