Earl Leslie Green

Earl Leslie Green, age 81, of Battle Creek passed away Tuesday evening, November 6, 2018 at the Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born in Hillsdale County, Michigan on October 7, 1937, the son of Allen Wayne and Josephine (McEvoy) (Darling) Green. Earl was a Boy Scout, played the baritone in his high school band, and belonged to the First Presbyterian Church of Jonesville where he sang in the choir and was a member of the men's breakfast group.

Earl started working at the A&P in Hillsdale for his brother-in-law, Marshall Roby at age 16. After graduating in 1956, he joined the United States Air Force and was a mechanic on the B-52 Bomber. After being discharged in January of 1961, Earl moved to California, where he married and adopted his two sons, Michael and Timothy Green. He returned to Michigan where he lived in Adrian, Middleville, Grand Rapids, Moscow, and most recently Battle Creek.

Earl is survived by his son, Timothy (Karen) Green of Davison, Michigan; his special friend and caretaker for many years, Vada Mercer; grandchildren, Christopher, (Alisha) Green of Hastings, Joseph (Heather) Green of Grand Rapids, Justin (Sarah) Green of Grand Blanc, and Morgan (Brett) Kenney of Nashville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Kalib Green of Hastings, Braylon, Sawyer "S.J." & Lola Green of Grand Blanc, and Avery Kenney of Nashville, Tennessee; a sister, Patricia Brown; a brother, Ronald Allen Green; and several nieces, nephews & many "Green" Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Green; grandson, Ryan Green; and sister, Donna Darling Roby.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 27th at the Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Southwest Michigan Veterans Relief Fund P.O. Box 2528 Battle Creek, MI 49016.
