Edna J. Taylor, 92, of Battle Creek, died July 1, 2013 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. She was born December, 1920 in Jackson County the daughter of Samuel and Anna (Collie) Lake and was a 1939 graduate of Leslie High School, Leslie, MI., and later she graduated with a two year certificate from a business college.
On February 27, 1942 Edna was united in marriage to Kenneth F. Taylor at Grass Lake, MI. She was employed at Kellogg Company from 1952-55, and was a secretary for Urbandale Elementary School from 1955-59 and Post Elementary School from 1959-64. In addition to her husband, Kenneth, Edna is survived by a daughter, Dianna L. (Harold) Robbins of Fine Lake; two sons, Terry R. (Nancy)Taylor of Bellevue, Gordon B. (Linda) Taylor of Hastings; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers; Bob Lake, and George (Mike) Lake, and three sisters; Betty Hanley, Mary Miller, and Margaret Rhines.
Edna loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing shuffle board with the Battle Creek Shuffle Club and the Sterling Park Shuffle Club in Lakeland, FL where they wintered for several years. She also enjoyed golfing, fishing, sewing, oil painting, reading, knitting, baking, and gardening.
A memorial service is planned for 1:00 pm, Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, with Gordon W. Pippin Minister, officiating. Visitation is planned for one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at 2:30 pm at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
