Eileen Mary (McCaherty) Hudon, age 75, of Battle Creek went peacefully to be with her Creator on Wednesday evening, May 29, 2019 at The Oaks at NorthPointe Woods. She was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on October 20, 1943, the loving daughter of Patrick and Louise (Fournier) McCaherty. Eileen worked for many years as a manager at the Countryside Inn and Waterfront Restaurants.
Eileen was sadly preceded in death by her husband, Jerome B. Hudon; her son, Dennis Lee Hulsebos; her parents; and a brother, Patrick McCaherty. She is survived by her children, Arlene Louise, Sean Michael, Gregory James and Kerri Hulsebos; her grandchildren, Joshua, Lamara, Dalton, Logan, Evelyn Hulsebos, Ben and Kelly Cross; her great-grandchildren, Drake, Avery, Skylar, Jadyn; and her sister, Kathleen (Lawrence) Casella.
Eileen had a passion for service and volunteered in many areas at St. Philip Catholic Church, from a Eucharistic Minister, working with the ladies in the Tiger Room, ushering the 4:30 p.m. Saturday Mass, and in several other ways. Eileen also volunteered at the Kimball House Museum, was a member of the Battle Creek Historical Society, the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, and worked many hours with the Democratic Party, and was instrumental in getting the Millage passed in Emmett Township for the new Calhoun County Medical Care Facility, and also discussed many business opportunities with her honorary daughter, Jess Habletz.
Eileen's love for the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots brought her happiness and she had an unconditional love for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed "Cutting the Rug" at The Oaks and making the other residents smile. In her earlier years, Eileen enjoyed caring for her yard, gardening, reading and feeding the birds.
Eileen's good heart, compassion and loving soul has influenced many people in her life and she would always get involved and help with whatever needed to be done for a good cause. This same love and compassion have continued even after her death, as Eileen lovingly donated her body to the University of Michigan Anatomical Program. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 3rd at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Monday. Memorials directed to the family c/o Arlene Hulsebos, would be appreciated. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleystesdowdle.com.
