Ella Marie (Donaldson) Reniger of Battle Creek, MI

Ella, age 97, died Friday morning, January 3, 2020 at the Heritage Assisted Living of Battle Creek.

Ella, the daughter of Elgie and Ruth (Guiless) Donaldson, was born in Eckford, MI on January 21, 1922 (Her father and uncle had to shovel snow for ½ mile, so the doctor could make it to their home on the day of her birth!). She was a life time area resident and 1940 graduate of Marshall (MI) High School. Ella received her Beautician's Certificate and practiced for a short time. She retired in 1989 after 37 years of faithful service as a Lab Technician for Post Cereals of Battle Creek. Ella enjoyed traveling, deer hunting, baseball, bowling, line dancing and reading.

Ella was united in marriage to Raymond A. Reniger in Marshall, MI in November of 1941 and he sadly preceded her in death on September 23, 1981. Surviving are two sons, Ronald D. (Sue) Reniger and Terrance H. (Joanne) Reniger, both of Battle Creek; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Ella was also preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Terri Lee Reniger and her brother, Lawrence Boody.

Ella's family will greet friends on Monday, January 6th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. The Funeral Service to celebrate Ella's life will held on Tuesday, January 7th at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Kelly Hadlich, Pastor Emeritus of Friends Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, Battle Creek. Family and friends will continue Ella's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon immediately following the committal service at Friends Church 1305 Olive Street, Battle Creek, MI 49014. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ella's honor may be directed to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
