March 14, 1937 — May 7, 2025

Battle Creek, Michigan

Eltruda “Trudy” Mae Sellers-Cathcart (Evans), 88, of Battle Creek, Michigan peacefully went to be with the Lord at Centrica Rose Arbor Place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

Trudy was born March 14, 1937, in East Chicago, Indiana to Walter and Lilith Dalena (Harris) Evans. She grew up in Hammond, Indiana, where she was a 1955 graduate of Hammond Technical Vocational High School. Trudy was employed in the data processing and accounting department at U.S. Steel, retiring in 1987, after 33 years of dedicated service. She taught data processing at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, Illinois for several years.

Trudy was preceded in death by her first husband of 48 years, Earnest Eugene "Gene" Sellers. Surviving are her husband, Ronald Cathcart, whom she married on January 2, 2010; son, Jeffrey “Red” Sellers; daughter, Deborah Ann (Phillip) Parmelee; two sisters, Carmella Marschke and Linda Ware; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Sellers, Jr., Amanda Mae Sellers, Kyla Sellers, Gabrielle (Angelo) Benard, Dalena (Michael) Jimenez, and numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her late husband, Gene, Trudy was also preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dalena; daughter, Pamela Sellers; sister, Wanda Marten; brother in Christ, James Sparks and by a son, Jonathan Sellers who followed her to heaven on Friday, May 9, 2025.

Trudy faithfully attended North Avenue Church of God in Battle Creek and previously attended the First Church of God in Munster, Indiana for many years. She was a lifelong member of the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana Branch. Trudy and Ron hosted Bible study groups at their home. She was a dedicated member of the Berrien County Sportsman’s Club for 35 years. Trudy was always at Ron’s side helping him with yard work, making decisions, choosing a place to eat and enjoying being together. She loved telling her and Ron's love story to all who'd listen. Trudy enjoyed: any and all church activities including greeting and ushering, coordinating her and Ron's daily outfits, having "Sisters' Day" with her three sisters and mother, camping, taking care of others, making the most perfect, abundant peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the local homeless shelter, over preparing food while organizing get togethers, old Bible hymns, collecting frog decor, supporting and loving her family in all their endeavors, talking on the phone for hours, making her famous brownies and green fluff for the masses, and being the hands and feet of Jesus. Trudy will be remembered for her loving, warm, and genuine personality, her beautiful, welcoming smile and her ability to connect with anyone and make them feel so special and loved. She was a good, loving servant of Christ.
