Eric Harold Moran of Richland, MI


Eric, age 51, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, February 25, 2016, at his residence.

Eric, the son of Janet M. (Allen) and Duane R. Moran and Gregory M. and Elaine L. Kearney, was born in Whittier, CA; moved to this area in 1966 and was a 1983 graduate of Galesburg-Augusta High School. He had been a heavy equipment operator for area construction companies, most recently for the past five years at Peter's Construction of Kalamazoo, MI. Eric was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 324 of Bloomfield Hills. He was passionate about snowmobiling having spent just last weekend Up North enjoying the snow cover with close friends; he was known to play a round of golf with his numerous friends, but his true passion in life was spending time with his family and friends.

Eric was united in marriage to Carla Kay (nee: Cheatham) in Richland on June 24, 2000. Surviving is his wife of 16 years, Carla; his son, Lucas Eric Dorchester (14), at home; sisters, twin Valerie M. McCabe of Phoenix, AZ and Kelly A. (Gary) Majewski of Vicksburg, MI; his brother, Jeffery S. Moran of Parchment, MI; his father and step-mother, Greg and Elaine Kearney of Apple Valley, CA and two sisters, and DeDe Kearney of Victorville, CA; and Janet Kearney of LaMirada, CA. Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Janet; his father, Duane R. Moran and sister, Keri Kirkham.

A celebration of Eric's life will be held on Saturday, March 5th from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Augusta V.F.W. Post # 7956, 13540 West M-96, Augusta, MI 49012. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eric's honor may be directed to his son, Lucas' Educational Trust Fund, c/o Consumers Credit Union, 5940 Gull Road, Kalamazoo, MI 49048.
