Eric Raymond Talbot of Battle Creek, MI

Eric, age 86, passed away on Sunday, June 5th, 2016 at The Oaks at Northpointe Woods. He was born on November 28, 1929 in Battle Creek, Michigan to father Welbourne Talbot of England and Iva Thorne Talbot of Michigan. Eric is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma. Eric is also preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Philip, Leland, Welbourne, and sister Catherine Talbot Parkins.

Eric grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School on July 18, 1947. He served his Country as a Corporal in the United States Army from December 1, 1950 and then transferred to the Army Reserve. He was honorably discharged on March 21, 1957. Eric was proud to have served his country and fondly remembered his time at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin along with his time of peacekeeping in Germany.

Eric began working for the Kellogg Company of Battle Creek, Michigan after he was discharged from the Army. He worked at Kellogg's until he retired on January 1, 1985 and proudly became a member of The 25 Year Club.

Eric married Norma Irene (Pasley) Snow, originally from Hammond, Indiana on April 3, 1954 in LaGrange, Indiana. They returned to Battle Creek, where they built their home. Eric enjoyed amateur radio, woodworking, dancing, big band music and many other hobbies over the course of his life. In his later years he shared his love of life and dancing with Maria Chapin. Maria was a beloved and much appreciated companion.

Eric is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Craig and Sherryl (Talbot) Jones of Holland, Ohio and their daughter, Margaret Jones of Chicago, Illinois, stepson and wife, Michael and Kathy Anderson and their sons, Bernie and Scott and families of Ball Ground, Georgia, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The Private, Family Graveside Service to celebrate Eric's life will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, Battle Creek with the United States Army Honor Guard bestowing military honors. The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to the staff of The Oaks at Northpointe Woods and the staff of Great Lakes Hospice for their care and support of Eric. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eric's honor may be directed to the American Cancer Society-Great Lakes Division, 1400 West Milham Road, Portage, MI 49024 The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek is assisting Eric's family with his arrangements.
