Ernest J. "Ernie" Engelhardt

Ernest J. "Ernie" Engelhardt, Sr., age 79, of Augusta passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 9, 2021. He was born in Battle Creek on April 11, 1941 and retired from IBM Computers after more than 30 years of service as a computer engineer. He loved railroading and also worked part-time as an engineer for Coopersville Marne, CSX, and Canadian National Railroad.

A true Man of Faith, Ernie was a devoted member at Fort Custer Christian Assembly. He loved his family and prayed for them every day. He also enjoyed animals, especially his cats & dogs, and working in his yard.

Ernie is survived by his children, Laura (Gary) Greenfield of Pinckney, Michigan, Ernest "Ernie" (Holly) Engelhardt of Richland, Sara (Khalil Banane) Engelhardt of Augusta, and Brent Blackman; his special companion, Miriam Fleming; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Ann "Becky" (Rubley) Engelhardt; his parents; and his brother, Jack Engelhardt.

Ernie's family will receive friends at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home in Battle Creek from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021. A private family service will follow.
